Herbal Harvest For September & Ways to Prep for Winter Ailments

In the North Georgia Mountains, there are many herbs that can be harvested this month!

September is a great time to start prepping for winter months. Unfortunately, with winter, there's usually a spike in cold & flu, both of which are viral infections. Fun fact, viral infections such as these (also Covid) can't be treated with antibiotics. Hydration, exercise, and a 3rd party tested multivitamin & probiotic are a great basis to trying to stay well or at least speed up recovery from these viral illnesses.

A few things I like to have on hand for winter months:

  • Elderberry syrup (to keep the immune system boosted or help heal quicker if I do get sick)

  • Ginger shots (these keep your lymph moving, help with inflammation, & can help drain sinuses)

  • Echinacea capsules (another immune support option)

  • Zinc (shorten the length of viral illnesses)

  • Lemon (add to water to increase hydration, can be used for hot or cold depending on your preference)

  • Colloidal silver throat spray (sore throat)

  • Neti pot (expels mucus)

  • Bone broth (hydration, vitamins & minerals)

  • Fire Cider (help thin mucus)
